And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD: Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty. I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD. Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD’S temple was laid, consider it. Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.
Contemplation
When we talk about the manifestation of a greater glory, we are talking about that which surpasses what we have seen or heard of before. When the glory begin to unfold in our midst, it will become so different before every souls. The glory of the Lord continually in the life of a man makes a huge difference and without this glory, this soul will become so empty. Don’t make the mistake to live your life without the glory, for a life without the glory may look as though not much has happened, but as the glory fade away, this soul will become so dry and empty. The Lord during this declaration to help give understanding to His people from Haggai 2 verse 15 down to 19 suddenly says,
“And now, I pray you, consider what will happen from this day onward. Since the time before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the Lord, how have you fared?
If we are not sensitive to what the Lord is calling our attention to, we will miss the plan and purpose. You might be swept off by how magnetic the building of the temple is, but with greater sensitivity, you will understand that the Spirit of the Lord wants us to also build with greater sensitivity. In verse 16, the word of the Lord went on to say,
“Through all that time [the harvests have not fulfilled expectations, for] when one has gone expecting to find a heap [of sheaves] of twenty measures, there were but ten; when he has gone to the wine vat to draw out fifty bucketfuls from the press, there were only twenty.”
Each time the word of the Lord begin to address things like this, something terrible has happened. If we are not sensitive, we will continue to struggle in vain. The word of the Lord went on to say,
“I smote you with blight and with mildew and with hail in all [the products of] the labors of your hands; yet you returned not nor were converted to Me, says the Lord.”
When things begin to go wrong in the life of God’s people, something is indeed wrong somewhere. This is why the word of the Lord in verse 18 and 19 says,
“Consider, I pray you, from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the Lord’s temple was [re]laid, consider this:
19 Is the harvested grain any longer in the barn? As to the grapevine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree—they have not yet borne. From this day on I will bless you.”
If we become sensitive to the leading of the Lord, the word of the Lord ended with the declaration saying, “From this day on I will bless you. Hallelujah. When the Lord decide to bless you, amazing wonders will begin to fall into place one after the other.
Practical issues
When things are not going the way the Lord promised, this is the reason why we must trust in the Lord and wait for a glorious intervention. The Lord will definitely glorify His name with a divine intervention. Shalom!
