According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Contemplation
It is a great privilege for each one of us to live according to the plan and purpose of God for our lives. In the life of a child of God, there are many contentions trying to have access into our lives. But the child of God who is living according to the plan and purpose of the Lord, will definitely overcome. A number of things try to gain unusual access into a soul but no power has access into a life until that soul gives them access.
In verse 4 of the scripture, when a soul comes to acknowledge the impact of the presence of the Lord, it begins to genuinely crave for it. This is why it says,
“Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.”
The longing of a soul for this amazing presence of the Lord, suddenly begin to restore the glory destined for that soul. This soul begin to conform to the image of the Lord, consecrated and set apart unto the Lord. It is amazing that this soul suddenly begins to manifest the new nature of Christ as one blameless in the sight of God. There is such a transformation that has taken place to separate this soul completely from who he use to be. What a glorious God we serve. It is hard to explain this, but it is the glorious dawn of a new beginning. This is the reason why verse 5 went on to say,
“For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will [because it pleased Him and was His kind intent]. “
What a glorious transformation that has taken place in this live forever? For we were actually planted in the love of the Lord, to be revealed as the children of God through Jesus Christ. It is amazing for us who use to struggle and wonder are now known to live this life transformed to become like the Lord Jesus. This is indeed a mystery and this is the reason why we must not forget to live to His praise and glory.
In verse 6 the word of the Lord went on to says,
“[So that we might be] to the praise and the commendation of His glorious grace (favor and mercy), which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.”
Hallelujah! The Lord our God in His love and mercies made it possible for this life to live to the praise of His name. What a lovely God we serve? Thank you Lord Jesus for your amazing presence.
Practical issues
The life of a soul can never walk to the praise and glory of the Lord until this soul simply comes to the place where it simply yields all to the Lord. Seek the Lord with all your heart, until He is revealed before all. Shalom!
